My first vid!

I am so unbelievably pleased at how this came out. Mind you, I made this in an afternoon, but I am just so happy with it. The only thing I didn't like is how my music edit did. It's a bit choppy. That was the hardest thing to do, but there was a big hunk of the song that I wasn't sure how to make work, so I sliced it out. Otherwise, wheeeeeee! I think this is such a perfect song for the Doctor as the lonely god, the man without a home, "watching all the days roll by", as the lyrics say. Oh, spoilers for the second series up to, uh, The Satan Pit. I really don't think anything too plotty is given away though. It's more of a character piece.

How cool! I am not particularly into ELO (from lack of exposure, I guess) but I have a guilty soft spot for the whole Doctor-Rose relationship bits of the show so the video was really fun to watch. You're very talented, for sure!

Thank you! Hearing this song the other day just brought to mind so many great Rose/Doctor moments, I was compelled to try this. I'm glad you liked it. :D

Thank you! Looking at it again there are parts I'd like to tweak and some other scenes I might change out, so I might go back and play with it, but for the most part I'm amazed at how well it came out for my first go. :-)

*pout* I can't download it. It says there are no free spots available. Can you reupload it, or send it to me through an email?

I would love to send your first vid!

Try the link again. I've had to do that when downloading from this site before. The link to the file will be down at the very bottom center of the page (mission.wmv).

If you can't get it to work lemme know and I'll YSI to you.

Very nice, well done!

Quick question: How do you make these videos? What software is needed and technobabble skills?

(If you're wondering who I am, I went in search of Doctor Who art and stumbled here.)

Thanks!

I use Windows Movie Maker, which comes with Windows XP (and probably with other versions of Windows, but I'm not sure). It's a little clunky, but seems to do the job. Honestly, I learned it by playing around with it. Basically, you import whatever video and music you want to use into the program, then you divide the video files into clips, then arrange the clips you want to use on a timeline along with the music. You can then trim or add clips, edit and move them around, add visual effects, etc. I just fiddle around with it until the clips and music match up how I want them.

Thank you! I'm technologically challenged, and I never think to poke around in Microsoft programs...
