I'm working on my Tara mood theme. Poor Amber Benson. Such a lovely girl, and the stylists on BtVS put her in the worst clothes and the most unflattering hairstyles. I mean, come on!


Amber was fleshier than the other actresses on the show and it's like they didn't know what to do with a girl who wasn't a size 2. But sometimes, they got it right and her natural beauty shone through:



















She even looked best of all of them in Anya's hideous bridesmaids dresses!

Very true! There were few outfits she wore that were truly flattering. When they tried to put her in that tight, clingy, patterned stuff that the skeletal actresses wore, it just made her look dumpy and frumpy. It didn't look all that great on the skeletons either. Other times there were just too many layers of things, too much going on.

Oddly enough, I thought one of her best outfits was the one she died in, the blue sweater with low rise jeans. Unfortunately, it was her last. :P

I finally got to meet her at the Houston con, and she's little. She's probably a six 6 or maybe, if you stretch it an 8. Also, she's slender, not bony, but slender. She's just not freakishly small like SMG and Alyson. She even said something about feeling like a giant around the other girls, and she was littler than me. I'm a size 8/10. She told us that Michelle T is her closest friend from the show, and Michelle has gotten a lot taller than her now.

I thought she was beautiful the instant I saw her on the show, but they dressed her and Willow like crap most of the time. I'm not from California, so I don't know what was going on with that, but they stuck Tara and Willow in the shittiest looking clothes. I've been a high school teacher for 15 years, and I never saw any students who dressed the way Tara or Willow did. Even Buffy wore some craptastic outfits occasionally.

The strangest thing of all was that during Season 6, when Buffy was supposed to be completely broke, they dressed her in gorgeous designer clothes. How the hell could she afford it. Also, who was paying for her white blonde hair and paying to bleach her eyebrows? It costs a lot of money to keep your hair as blonde as Buffy had it during season 6.

Yeah, I think part of it was putting her next to those teensy girls. Willow's clothes were hideous too. All those weird sweaters and embroidered things and the Elmo sweater. Eeek! Buffy's outfits in Season 3 were my favorite. They were flattering and cute and stylish.

Also, I'm going from looking at caps of Emma Caufield to Amber, and that's quite a transition. Emma was scarily skinny, even more that SMG in Season 7. Aly never looked emaciated to me, I guess because she just has a tiny frame to begin with. What is it with Joss Whedon and teensy scrawny girls? I guess Amber and Charisma would be the exception to those rules. And Stephanie Romanov (who was thin, but tall and shapely).

Oh. Emma. Oh my god. She's skin and bones. Yuck. I was so shocked when I met her in person. She looked near death; I swear. I bet she eats 500 calories a day. She has a beautiful face, but she's hideously bony. :shudders:

Stephanie is a regular sized slender person in person. Hee. Mercedes McNab is quite slender, but looks normal, not bony in person. Juliet Landau is skin and bones. Julie Benz, is quite slender, but normal looking. Clair Kramer is teensy tiny. SMG must be flea sized in person, but I thought Glory was a lot bigger than Buffy on the show. I could beat Clair Kramer to death with my pinky finger. She's teensy teensy. It was quite a shock to see her in person. I bet she wears doll clothes. :nods:

Robia LaMorte is very slender, but normal looking.

I would looooooooove to see Charisma in person. She's so gorgeous, and she has flesh on her. She's not all bony.

Amy Acker looks like she eats twice a year, whether she needs to her not, but I don't think she diets down to that.

Joss is obsessed with tiny skin and bones women. I don't get it. Really. It's kind of weird.

I used to laugh at David Boreanaz hunching over in his scenes with SMG. He looked like such a dork.

Do you remember when Angel gave Buffy his leather jacket to wear in Season 1? Shit, that thing she have dragged the grown on her, but it was just a little bit big. I busted out laughing over that scene. Ridiculous.

Also, James Marsters is short. He's barely 5'7" and I bet he weighs 150, if that. Maybe 160. I met him the summer after season 6, and he was so skinny, he looked sick.

He's still pretty skinny, but he doesn't look near death like he did that summer.

Then, we had David and Nick who were called *fat* by all the fans. I met Nick during season 7, and he was slender and muscular. Not one bit fat. I met David at the end of series and he's lean and very muscular. But they got called fat because they played opposite skinny midget women, and very slender tall men like Alexis, Andy, and JAR.

As much as I love Fred and Amy Acker, I just can't see why Wesley would want to let the gorgeous curvaceousness that is Lilah out of his bed.

I just wish that Hollywood would learn to distinguish between scrawny/skeletal and slender/fit. The first just isn't attractive, plus it's simply unhealthy and unnatural. Although I do have a thing for tall slender men (i.e. Alexis) I like them to have some meat on their bones.

Alexis is perfect. Perfection. He's one of the most beautiful men I've ever seen in my entire life. The camera doesn't tell one millionth of the story. He's a billion times infinity better looking in person. Oh my god. Aly is the luckiest woman in the solar system.

I cannot figure out how he's not working all the time. He's so talented and so incredibly gorgeous. It doesn't make a lick of sense to me. None at all.

I'm partial to David and Nick, but Alexis...there aren't words to describe him adequately.

I don't know how the women on BTVS and ATS kept their hands off him. Really. Stephanie Romanov and Charisma Carpenter were soooo lucky. Oh my.

Do you watch Grey's Anatomy? Because what they've done with the casting, especially the new character Calleigh, really reminds me of BtVS.

Ok, I realize that I'm replying to a post that's more than a year old, which in some parts of the universe makes me scary, but I was going through your old posts in search of Dr Who icons and I saw this and got excited (see above) to find someone who appreciates the beauty that is Amber Benson. Thanks for picspam, even a year later.
