psubrat and anyone else who wants to try them, here's my scone recipe.
Cream scones
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 tablespoon sugar
½ teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons butter
2 eggs, well beaten
½ cup cream
Preheat the oven to 425°F. Lightly butter a cookie sheet. Mix the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Work in the butter with your fingers or a pastry blender until the mixture resembles coarse meal. Add the eggs and cream and stir until blended. Turn out onto a lightly floured board and knead for about a minute. Pat or roll the dough about ¾ inch thick and cut into wedges. Place on the cookie sheet and bake for about 15 minutes. Makes 12 wedges.

I guess if you wanted them in rounds you could cut them in rounds, but wedges are fast and waste nothing. Oh, I cut mine into 8 wedges today, although the recipe calls for 12 wedges. That was just my goof, but they came out just fine anyway. :-)
