I stumbled upon this info looking up things about another beloved British bear, Paddington. Did you know that the original real live Winnie was an American bear who lived at the London zoo? The original stuffed inhabitants of the Hundred Acre Wood now live at the New York Public Library. Pooh Bear (then Edward Bear) was purchased at Harrods in 1921. I did not know these things.
